History

Founded in 1988 and privately owned by Morris International, ProSail was the new wave in sports. With 40 years’ experience in Sports Marketing, Morris International understood sponsors, racers and spectators, and designed ProSail to be the “perfect” sports property.

ProSail made history in the United States by organizing the first professional sailboat race in April 1988 when the Hobie Sunglasses Team, skippered by Hobie Alter, Jr., defeated a field of 20 competitors to win the first regional qualifier in Tampa.

ProSail has proven itself. In its first 3 years of inception, ProSail hosted 12 events spread out throughout Tampa, San Diego, Detroit, San Francisco, Miami, Wrightsville Beach, Annapolis, Newport, New Bern and Mackinac. Past events have attracted top-name sailors, spectators and sponsors from coast to coast.
